Reflection on Work Placement
Joe Kiser
My work placement job is at Storyhill Church in the Communications department. I am pleased that I get to use the skills I learned in college in a work setting, especially at the place that makes my fellows' experience possible. It has been such a blessing to witness and capture these special moments at the church every week, whether it be at special events or Sunday morning services. I couldn’t have asked for a better work environment with kinder people. One of my favorite things about my job is the creative freedom I have. A major part of my job involves the church's social media. I get to create a variety of posts about different aspects of the church, a lot of which I photograph, primarily on Sunday mornings, whether it be the parking team, the coffee station, the youth ministry, the worship team, or the sanctuary. My coworkers are very encouraging in helping me grow in my responsibilities, like hosting the livestream and uploading the sermons to the website. Being able to see my work being shown around the church community has given me such an appreciation for what I am doing. I am very appreciative that I have the opportunity to be so involved in other ministry areas at Storyhill.
